Dairy Queen's oldest Minnesota store faces demolition

The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota released their list of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places for 2010 and one food landmark was included:
" Minnesota's oldest Dairy Queen, on Lexington Avenue North near Larpenteur, [was] built in the early 1950s, the building features soaring, angled glass planes, a concrete block base, and a large, distinctive neon sign. The expansive glass of the design offered patrons a glimpse of the workings within, while the sign beckoned drivers to pull over for a creamy, cool treat. Through the years, this Dairy Queen in the first-ring suburb of Roseville has become a neighborhood and Minnesota landmark."
The building was built in the 50s in the height of the roadside dining craze. The current owner says that the structure is not big enough to accommodate the needs of a modern Dairy Queen. He seeks to tear down this structure and build a larger one.
How about preserving the facade and adding on? Come on, dude.
