5-8 Club adds five new (and strange) Juicy Lucys to their menu

​We're serious when we say only the original Ju(i)cy Lucy will do. But the latest trend around town is expanding the selection of Juicy Lucy burgers to include the weird and flat-out disgusting oozing out from the beef patties.

The Blue Door Pub offers 10 different Juicy varieties and The Nook has the Juicy Nookie along with the Paul Monitor (made with pepper cheese).

Now the 5-8 Club is joining the local craze.

5-8 Club is one of the restaurants claiming to have made the "original" Lucy before the competitors came along, but allows hungry visitors to ask for American, Amablu Blue, Pepper or Swiss cheese. Matt's Bar, their competitor for the "original" title is the one holdout, offering one Jucy Lucy choice that is damn good all on its own.

5-8 Club is temporarily adding five new Juicy Lucy burgers to their menu in a "Free the Cheese" promotion: Minnesota Yodeler, Senorita Lucita, The Pig-Pen, Olive's Ode to Lucy, and Juicy Luigi. Try all five of them and become part of the Free the Cheese Squad, which apparently gives you pride, honor, and a free T-shirt. Wahoo!

We're most intrigued by the Olive's Ode to Lucy, a Juicy with cream cheese, green olives, and a little garlic. We can't get enough cream cheese in our lives, so this could be a dream-come-true or our worst nightmare. Maybe cream cheese is really meant for wontons?
