Diner reports finding crude oil in Gulf oyster

• mudd is not oily. This happened to me too at The crab Shack tonight. I am an oil painter. My fingers smelled like crude oil. The black substance was oily and spread like oil paint all over everything.

What is the link to the NC State Health inspector you cite so we can see those test results for ourselves? Phil is probably correct... "Oil's the least of your worries". • I think people are overreacting. NC is very far from Gulf of Mexico. No way oil can get to NC this fast. You guys elected Obama. You have to give President Obama and BP a chance to clean up the mess.

This also affects not only migration of animals and fish; but also humans. We all need a safe place to play and eat. But when greedy people, and others who enable them cause financial disasters, oil disasters; well, we regular poor people ask that you just leave. I suggest if anyone has friends that work for an oil company, or service the oil industry; tell them to get lost, you do not want to see their pathetic faces unless it is on your hands and knees cleaning up the messes you have caused over our lifetime. and it is going to stop. Ideologies, misbehaving, selfishness; when this interfers with feeding my kids, then I am going to tell you to stop.

• Oysters are not harvested in may, june, july, or august. Something alse in that oyster.

• Not possible. The oyster beds anywhere close to the spill are all closed. Additionally, the beds that are open are all tested, that is if you can even get them. A place that charges 25 cents an oyster is most certainly not getting them from the Gulf. Two thirds of the distributors are closed. Besides all that, we aren't talking about a Mecca of seafood restaurants. Your part of the world still thinks blacked cod is a cajun dish. Media grandstanding.

• this is completely unsubstantiated. The "oil" turned out to be mud. No testing was done before pronouncing that it was oil. NC State Health inspector found that the oysters had mud in the hinge through which the oysters are shucked before serving. Looks like tar, maybe, but is perfectly normal. Check your facts before repeating you see Elvis, OK? chris
