Head down the road to watch beans go into a hole!

For those of you able to take a mid-week road trip, we have a doozie for you. Head over to Pequot Lakes for the beloved annual celebration, Bean Hole Days, which takes place each July. You can catch Tuesday night's Burying of the Beans Ceremony, as giant cast-iron kettles filled with beans "prepared by secret recipe behind locked doors" will be buried in the ground and cooked overnight over a wood fire. The payoff comes the next day.

On Wednesday, the kettles will be unearthed and the beans will be served on a bun, with a glass a lemonade. The Coronation Ceremony will crown the Bean Hole Royalty for 2010.

Other area attractions include the Uppgaard Wildlife Management Area, boat rentals, bike rentals, and nearby Pine River, Minnesota--home of "Babe the Green Recycling Ox."
