A day of milk bottling, lefse making, cattle grazing and more.
If miles and miles of bluff country bicycle trails and the sweet, sweet wares of the Aroma Pie Shop aren't enough to lure you down to Lanesboro, this month's farm and garden tour might just do the trick.

On Saturday, July 31, the group Lanesboro Local is sponsoring a tour of six Fillmore County agri-preneurs for those seeking a firsthand look at how grass-fed cattle are grazed, turkeys are raised, and CSA boxes are filled.

The day starts at 11 a.m. in the Rushford area with a trio of stops at 11, noon and 1, at a wind turbine start-up/grass-fed cattle herd/apple orchard, a fruit-and-vegetable CSA, and a Norwegian lefse maker. The tour moves to Chatfield (a 35-minute drive) for three more stops at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. at a USDA-inspected smokehouse and processing facility, a glass-bottled dairy, and a farm that pasture raises cows, hens, and turkeys. Bring a cooler if you want to make purchases of farm-fresh food.

For more details, check out Lanesboro Local's website. Tickets cost $25 and reservations can be made by calling Pam Niven at 507.467.3505 or email info@lanesborolocal.org. (Maps to all destinations will be mailed when you buy a ticket or can be picked up.)
