Franklin Street Bakery II now open
Let the scent of char-grilled burgers mingle with cupcakes: Frankin Street Bakery opened a second outpost near 44th and France in Edina, next to the Convention Grill.
A new sweet shop for Edina
Even with this spring's arrival of Sweet Retreat, ever since Patisserie Margo moved to Excelsior, Edina's been a little short on sweet-shop options. [[Stet: Margo is still there--thank you!--it just opened a second branch in Excelsior, but, still Edina is short on sweets.]] Fortunately, the new Franklin Street location offers a similar variety of wares as the original: breakfast pastries, cakes, tarts--and they're introducing tart frozen yogurt for a low-cal option.
When we stopped by, we noticed owner Wayne Kostroski--his year's James Beard Foundation Humanitarian of the Year honoree--was buzzing around making sure everything was in order. (No stranger to the Edina market, Kostroski used to own Tejas at 50th and France.) True enough, we found that a turtle cupcake and a chocolate-cherry mini-cheesecake more than passed muster.
