Gorkha Palace coming soon
You may have heard a new Nepalese was coming to the former Mairin's Table with the name Yak and Yeti. Turns out that's not the case. Hot Dish learned that the trademark attorney who represents local restaurateur Steve Schussler (the guy behind Rainforest Cafe and Galaxy Drive In) informed them that the name is already in use--Schussler launched a theme restaurant called Yak & Yeti at Walt Disney World a few years ago.

Undaunted, the burgeoning restaurateurs Rashmi Bhattachan (she runs the Cafe Nepal momo stand at the Mill City Market) and Sarala Kattel (she's worked at several Nepalese restaurants in town) have decided to call their restaurant Gorkha Palace.
The Star Tribune reports that buffet-style lunch and table-service dinner should begin by mid-September. (The momo stand at the market will continue to operate through the duration of the market.) The menu will grow far beyond momos (beef, turkey, yak) to include rice, daal, roti and naan dishes made using many local, sustainable ingredients.
