L'Ecosse RIP

From the moment it opened its doors, L'Ecosse was a strange bird. The name, which is the French word for Scotland, reflected chef-owner David Macfarlane's Scottish heritage and culinary sensibilities. But it seemed to confuse neighbors looking for more defined restaurant concepts (Pepitos's Mexican, Bagu sushi, Biga pizza, etc.) and made for a better breakfast spot--delish banana pancakes--than lunches or dinners of leaden meat pies and bland curry.
