Step right up and get your dim sum!
The bright, Vegas-style sign at 6th and Hennepin is all aglow: Thom Pham's Wondrous Azian Kitchen is open. The deep red color scheme and antique artifacts suggest a throwback to mid-century Chinese-American restaurants like Minneapolis's storied Nankin.

The menu is giant, filled with a long list of classics such as Chow Mein, General Tso's Chicken, and Peking Duck, plus outliers like oxtail tacos, surf 'n turf, and a rack of ribs for 10. Like Pham's former Eat Street eatery, Azia, Wondrous has a large sushi selection, and a few favorite dishes from the old restaurant, including the famous Cranberry Puffs. And one more thing to get excited about: weekend Dim Sum

The bar features prominently, too, with old-school cocktails like the Singapore Sling and, Pham suggests, the largest sake menu west of NYC. The Wondrous Punch in the Face, the bar's take on the Nankin classic, sounds like a powerful dare, clocking in at 51-ounces of juice and alcohol.
