Red Stag's monthly Meet the Farmer dinner features Peterson Limousin Farms tonight
There you are, sitting at your desk, wondering what to do for dinner tonight. Your cabinet is bare, takeout sounds boring, and the autumnal chill has you craving something substantial. Trust us, we get it. Luckily for you, so does the Red Stag Supper Club. Once a month it features a Meet the Farmer dinner, with a special menu developed around the offerings of a local farm and a chance for diners to meet the people who grew their dinner. Here's the lowdown on tonight's Red Stag's menu, designed around Peterson Limousin Farm's delicious, natural beef.
Tonight's menu includes a grilled top sirloin from Peterson Limousin Beef Farm
Peterson Limousin Farm, in Osceola, Wisconsin, specializes in natural beef produced from "naturally superior" Limousin cattle. Items on tonight's special menu (offered in addition to the regular menu) include beef pirogi with wild mushroom sauce and a grilled top sirloin wrapped with house-cured pancetta, broccoli, and turnip puree. The menu is prix fixe at $38 for the four courses. A matched wine flight is available for an additional $16. Diners at the same table are free to choose either the prix fixe menu or items on the regular dinner menu.
Dinner is served from 5 to 10 p.m., and the farmer will be in house from 6:30 to 8:30, talking to guests about his farm and his fantastic cows.
If you love the idea of a meal with food from local farms, but can't make it to the Red Stag tonight, fear not. On October 11, the restaurant will host a fundraiser for the Emergency Food Shelf Network. The event will include a farm-fresh menu featuring several of the local farms with whom they partner, with beer or wine pairings included, for $75. Since Red Stag will be working with the freshest products available, the menu will begin to take shape closer to the event. More information is available at the Red Stag website here.
