Wondrous Azian Kitchen's Brazerac--a dreamy drink of the week
A cocktail born in a dream.

It's not everyday that someone gets to live one of their dreams. But that's just what happened to bartender Brad Smith, the mastermind behind the cocktail menu at Wondrous Azian Kitchen. In his slumber, images of Chartreuse poured over a sugar cube and set on fire appeared, followed by Basil Hayden bourbon, VSOP cognac, and topped with six (yes, specifically six) drops of smoky Laphroaig single-malt scotch on top. Smith awoke, scratched his head, and decided to try the recipe that came to him as a vision. And the Brazerac was brought into reality. As you might guess, this cocktail is as wicked strong as the drink it is named after, the Sazerac. The Chartreuse and sugar add welcome herbal notes and sweetness, but this boozy and delicious drink is not for the faint of heart. The bourbon and cognac are two mighty forces, with the scotch adding the scent of campfire to the mix. This dreamy drink would be a perfect warmer-upper on a crisp autumn or winter's day.
