RIP HellBurgers (Hell's Kitchen Duluth)

Even a burger conversion couldn't save Hell's...
Even though rebranding Hell's Kitchen, Duluth, as HellBurgers gave the Canal Park restaurant a big boost, it wasn't enough to keep the place in business. HellBurgers closed on Sept. 26, three years into a ten year lease.

The Duluth News Tribune caught up with co-owner Cynthia Gerdes, who explained that she and her partners put up a Craigslist ad soliciting aspiring restaurateurs to take over their lease, which was actually how her crew started Hell's Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis nearly a decade ago.

The Minneapolis Hells is still going steady, recently cropping up in the news for having served its famous lemon ricotta hotcakes to comedian Conan O'Brien.
