Judge the brews AND feed the hungry.
Ready to play a part in deciding who's roasting up the best brew in the cities? Then you need to hit up the Calhoun Coffee Festival 2010 on Saturday at Calhoun Square from 10 a.m. to  3 p.m. For a $10 donation, festival-goers receive a commemorative mug that allows them to participate in voting for the best coffees. Proceeds go to Second Harvest Heartland, a nonprofit that delivers food to Upper Midwest food shelves, soup kitchens, senior centers, and children's groups. Last year's celebration raised over $15,000 for the hunger-relief organization.
Here's the buzz about events on Saturday:

Several local and national vendors will be on hand to show their products and services in action. Flamenco Organic, Coffee and Tea Ltd., Muddy Paws Cheesecake, Famous Dave's, and Republic of Tea are just a few of the participating companies. Samples of food, tea, and of course coffee will be available to the public. Those in the coffee contest bring their own beans and brewing equipment to the competition, and the paying crowd votes on the best regular, specialty, and decaf brews, as well as favorite tea and best treat.

Comedy Sportz will provide caffeinated comic relief in the early afternoon, plus you'll find latte art demos, coffee cupping, and a tea room. Coffee Fest 2010 is a great way to catch a weekend coffee buzz, be entertained and give a little something back too.
