In conjunction with the Minnesota History Center's big exhibit on chocolate (running through January), the center is joining with Gastro Non Grata and Fabulous Catering to present a special class on chocolate this Sunday, where students can learn several unique and creative ways to use the sweet, from molding to mole sauce.
Here are the details:
The event will take place at Fabulous Catering (2900 13th Avenue South, Minneapolis) on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Participants can learn many applications for chocolate in the kitchen, along with preparation tips. You'll see a demonstration of tempering and molding techniques by Ruby Moon Chocolates' Brian Conn. The pastry chef of Haute Dish, Christian Aldrich, will share a dessert specialty. And Dawn Drouillard, head chef at Fabulous Catering, will present a recipe for mole.
The cost is $20 for nonmembers, and reservations are recommended; call 651.259.3000 or register online for DIY: Chocolate tickets.
