- Gather at Brit's with members of the Guthrie to honor the theater's smash-hit production of The 39 Steps, based off of Alfred Hitchcock's acclaimed 1935 film. Trivia host John Cosgrove will kick off the evening at 7:15 p.m. with a Movies and Hitchcock trivia game, followed by a free screening of Hitchcock's original The 39 Steps. Come early to enjoy Brit's 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. happy hour with specials on beers, wine, cocktails, and appetizers. Switch to $4 pints of Amstel Light and Newcastle Brown during the event.
- Help Psycho Suzi's owner Leslie Bock clear out of her old space before moving into the former home of Gabby's on November 22. Tonight and tomorrow Bock is hosting a liquidation sale--i.e., "all liquids must go"--with $2 beer, wine, liquor, and anything sipped out of a tiki mug. Do your civic duty and pitch in to close Suzi's down.

- Sing it from the rooftops--Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! The New Beaujolais has arrived! It's one of the oldest holiday traditions: at one past Midnight on the third Thursday of each November, more one million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau wine journey from the far regions of France to Paris for immediate shipment all over the world. Twin Cities restaurants are getting in on the action. Choose from a variety of options:
- Join Barbette's Chef Kathman for a special prix fixe menu paired with Beaujolais Nouveau Thursday through Sunday this week. The menu includes wild Oregon sole, roasted garlic and parsnip falafel, Coq Au Vin Rouge (red wine braised chicken) or mascarpone and celeriac ravioli with shiitake mushroom caramelized Brussels and parmesan emulsion among other culinary delights. $32 dinner; Beaujolais sold separately at $9.50/glass, $36/bottle.
- Grand Café in Minneapolis also will unveil a prix fixe Beaujolais menu, including Passaladiere (onion, tomato, and olive tart), simple salad, Beef Bourguignon, Tart Tatin (upside down apple tart). $45 plus tax and tip.
- Sofitel in Bloomington will pour free samples of Beaujolais nouveau on Thursday, with accompanying cheeses and other fare. Call 952.835.1900 for reservations and information.
- Test your taste buds with a blind tasting of some of the world's finest chocolates with representatives from Kallari, an Ecuadorian fair trade chocolate producer. This company produces some of the world's best chocolate made from cacao grown by Quichwa Indians in Ecuador's Amazon basin. Guests will partake in a blind tasting between Kallari chocolate and some of the United State's and Europe's best chocolate producers. Brought to you by Slow Food Minnesota. $20/$15 members.
