French Meadow Bakery robbed by armed suspects
Police are still looking for one of two men they believe robbed Uptown's French Meadow Bakery last night.
Police caught one suspect who lives a few blocks from the bakery.
Two masked men--at least one armed--came into the bakery on the 2600 block of Lyndale Avenue S. around 10:40 p.m., police say, and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police arrested a 28-year-old running away from French Meadow shortly after the robbery. The suspect was booked in Hennepin County jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
"He was seen very close to the business, and we caught him either inside or right outside" of the nearby Bob's Java Hut, says Sgt. Bill Palmer, Minneapolis police spokesman. Palmer wasn't sure if the suspect was arrested carrying any stolen money.
The suspect lives just a few blocks from the bakery, according to the police report.
The bakery was open today, but employees declined to comment on the robbery.
