Mill Valley Kitchen coming to St. Louis Park

The Ellipse is getting a new restaurant this summer.
The Ellipse luxury apartment development that seemingly sprang up overnight at the corner of France Avenue and Excelsior has a new ground-floor restaurant in the works: Mill Valley Kitchen, named after the Marin County, California paradise just across the Golden Gate Bridge and adjacent Muir Woods.

Craig Bentdahl, the former Excel Bank CEO, is backing the venture and working with Anoush Ansari of Hemisphere Companies as a consulting partner on the project. Chef Michael Rakun, formerly of the St. Paul Hotel and Mission American Kitchen, is developing a menu inspired by the fresh, healthful, farm-to-table cuisine of Northern California.

Shea is doing the design work for a 165-seat dining room, private dining area, and outdoor patio. Mill Valley Kitchen will be a full-service restaurant and bar offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and should open in early summer.

had the pork sandwich for lunch,2oz. of pork very tough, cut with the grain, dry, way to much cilantro and one thick slice of hot pepper on each hard dried baguette. This was served with a small salad of leaves. The service was average, cold decor, but clean.Well when the bill came it was shocking, fifteen dollars with a soda..

The decor is classic, fresh and comfortable.  The food is WONDERFUL!  I left feeling like I had eaten a healthy but very tasty, gourmet meal.  I really enjoyed the meal, the attention to detail, the many options on the menu, the staff was outstanding and I highly recommend an evening at Mill Valley Kitchens!  Katie

Yes they thought about parking! Chef Mike is one of the greatest culinary minds in the country. His perception of restaurant comfort well exceeds the kitchen, or dinning room.

Have they thought about parking? I have a friend who lives there now and the parking is already crowded. 165 seats? That is alot of cars.
