Rosa Mexicano coming to City Center

Rosa Mexicano is coming to Minneapolis.
Rosa Mexicano, the nine-location restaurant chain that spread from New York to Miami to Los Angeles, is on its way to downtown Minneapolis. Before you start having flashbacks to the mediocre Mexican fare Chevy's used to offer at Seventh and Hennepin, realize that Rosa's approach is more upscale and authentic, closer to D'Amico's Masa. In fact, Rosa has enough culinary cred that Saveur magazine devoted a full page to its guacamole recipe.

The Business Journal reports that the restaurant has leased the former home of TGI Fridays at Sixth and Hennepin in City Center, which has sat empty since 2005. Rosa will seat 215 inside, plus 120 outdoors, with design work being done, in part, by Shea Design.

Downtown has proved a viable market for upscale restaurant chains, most notably with the successful addition of Fogo de Chao's Brazilian steakhouse. And as much as we like to see homegrown talent developed, an outside operator is far better than a darkened doorway.

I never been to New York but the prices are steep for the size portion of the food. Oh and the guacumole that they didn't tell me they were charging me for...but it was good! Not worth a $14 surprise .. I was also kinda disappointed tho, cause I was expecting to have a great traditional meal.. :(

This is my favorite restaurant in the world.  Hope you don't charge NYC prices for guac!

So excited. Celebrated my babe's birthday in Miami at Rosa's! Great food, gourmet guac and perfect Sangrias with a sexy ambiance.
