Restaurant.com fire sale: 80 percent off gift certificates

Cheap eats at Northeast Social!
It's happening again: Restaurant.com is offering huge discounts on their gift certificates when you enter the code EXCLUSIVE at checkout. What does 80 percent off mean? We just nabbed a $25 gift certificate to the Northeast Social Club for $4!

As an added bonus, each purchase receives a free $10 Restaurant.com eGift Card, redeemable online for a restaurant-specific certificate.

There are 143 restaurants within 25 miles of our zip code, so it's a great time to go hog wild. Popular options include the Lyndale Tap House in Minneapolis (mmm beer), The Hanger Room in Stillwater (mmm steak) and the Wok in the Park in St Louis Park (mmm egg rolls) to name a few.

Gift certificates can range in size from $100 to $10, so all budgets are welcome. We just tested out what a $100 gift certificate (normally priced at $40) to Chula Vista Mexican Restaurant in West St. Paul would cost us with the discount...and it's a ridiculous $8. Extra good news: you can redeem the certificates whenever because they don't have expiration dates. Now get on it!

It's a decent website, I've taken advantage of sales in the past (often as an excuse to try a new place) --my only qualm is that the restaurants I'd use it for sell out of coupons pretty fast.

I love how they're selling gift certificates for restaurants that are closed (like Rajah's Mahal and Cafe BonXai). This makes me really trust restaurant.com.

Website lists two, I know about, closed restaurants (Cafe BonXai and Raja's Mahal).

For fair warning, I have purchased from here, and been told by the restaurant upon arrival that they didn't use restaurant.com's services anymore. But, in accordance with fairness laws, restaurant.com was personable and allowed refund/exchange of gift certificates to other restaurants available...
