Tillie's Bean RIP

gravestone thumbnail.jpg
Tillie's Bean brewed its last cup.
The original Tillie's Bean at 28th Ave./38th St., one of the few coffee shops in southeast Minneapolis, shut its doors last month and left the following notice:

We thank all our friends and neighbors for a wonderful six years of making great coffee for you at Tillie's Bean. It is with regret and a heavy heart that we announce Tillie's Bean is now closed for business. Thank you for your patronage. Take care. The family of Tillie's Bean.

The news comes not so long after the closure of the Tillie's Bean at Franklin and Nicollet (the former home of Acadia, which quickly closed the short-lived Oliver, as well). The Tillie's Bean website is no longer working, but if you'll miss the shop, leave your condolences on their Facebook page.

The address you gave isn't in Southeast...Southeast means east of the river and south of Hennepin. Also, there are lots of coffee shops in this part of town; just down 38th there's Fireroast Mountain and Riverview.

Sad to hear... but anyone else a bit troubled by the Facebook Page? They advertise getting Gift Cards and and telling people to load them with $50 to get $60... one week before they closed for good?

Oh
Oh

She expanded too fast.

The article says southeast, not Southeast.
