We all know how fab the architecture is at the Westin's glorious restaurant and the centerpiece, the Gold Bar. But how is the happy hour?
|A martini for $4, wine for $5|
Venue: The dark wood, the light peeking in from the world outside, and the beautiful details, from light fixtures to cabinets, make B.A.N.K. a swank place to visit after work. The bar, situated in the middle of the action, gives you a view of most of the dining room and all of the decor, which is definitely a big draw. They don't slouch on the cocktails either, offering the classics as well as their own riffs on them (a white Manhattan and a maple-orange-flavored old-fashioned, for example).
|Wet gin loveliness|
Verdict: But what about the deals, you ask? They ain't half bad, which is surprising in this upscale environment. The special cocktail of the day will likely be the best bargain--as long as it suits your tastebuds. Otherwise, the house wine and 1/2-price appetizers can keep you sitting with the upper classes, while spending just $4 a slider, $6 for the rock shrimp, or $5.50 for the calamari. And for the most serious of steals, visit B.A.N.K. on a Tuesday, when martinis, lemon drops, and cosmos are just $4.
