Rueben Pizza: she's got a really great sense of humor
We already knew they made a killer Reuben sandwich. Pete Skinner's personal favorite sandwich won our food fight last year. But sauerkraut on a pizza? That seemed like questionable cookery. Until one evening--an evening possibly soaked in Skinner's crazy cheap beer specials--we made the leap.
'Kraut just does not belong on a pizza, and yet here it is such a divine accompaniment. The salty, nearly floral flavor of the corned beef reclining atop a sea of sweet relish-studded Thousand Island dressing, topped with the pickled burst of sweet cabbage blanketed in pungent, gooey Swiss cheese is an orchestra of flavors in each bite. Their crispy thin crust is a sturdy enough vehicle for each harmonious morsel. Skinner's also delivers to all of West Seventh, Highland, Merriam Park, Crocus Hill, and Mac/Groveland neighborhoods. Half of St. Paul can get this beauty brought directly to their homes.
