Is the phrase "suburban happy hour" an oxymoron? The Hot Dish went south on a search for the answer to that question and hit up Crave in the Galleria.

Cruzan rum and some mint...

Venue: This is Edina, people, so after dinnertime, the bar area of Crave at the Galleria empties out awfully fast. It's desolate most evenings after 8 p.m., but that simply means more attention from the bartender for you and yours. The space is gorgeous, with all that classy wood, the open kitchen, and the hidden TV's at the bar. The impressively large list of food specials at happy hour provides something for all tastes. The drink options are a bit less plentiful, but there are still beer, wine, and cocktail choices to keep the grown-ups in your group happy.

The burger comes with chips, too!

Verdict: The $3 mini-burger with cheddar and bacon is a delicious bargain, and there's also sushi, pizzas, and even sweet treats (which change regularly) to tempt your appetite. This is a cheap, hungry person's dream deal, that oddly enough happens to be in Edina's ritziest shopping mall. The walleye fingers are tasty (yes, fried) and the sushi passable, but the best option is a $5 Mojito--watch the mint leaves get muddled in front of you--which goes nicely with the $5 pulled pork sandwich and chips.
