Deep-fried Kool-Aid balls: a tasty or terrible idea?

Wha? Kool-Aid flavored doughnuts?
Just when we were complaining about the lack of inventiveness in this year's list of new Minnesota State Fair foods, we hear about deep-fried Kool-Aid balls.

Creative, yes. Tasty...eh, maybe?

We were kind of hoping they'd be like a Chinese soup dumpling, hollow dough balls that would squirt the sweet, liquid beverage into your mouth with the first bite. But Charlie Boghosian, who created the Kool-Aid balls to sell at various county fairs across the country, describes them as doughnut holes flavored with cherry Kool-Aid--and apparently they're selling like hotcakes.

What do you think of the idea? Would you try 'em?
