Lucky Bucket and Millstream beers arrive in Minnesota
Somehow the word has gotten out that Minnesotans love to drink beer. The list of out-of-state breweries starting distribution here just keeps expanding. In the last two months alone we've welcomed Stone Brewing Co., Brooklyn Brewery, and Alaskan Brewing Company to the Land-of-Lakes. The list of treats for the seemingly insatiable Minnesota beer market continues to grow as those three high-profile beer makers are followed by a couple of lesser-known new entries.
Lucky Bucket Brewery launches this weekend in Minnesota.
Lucky Bucket Brewing Company
Hailing from the southwest Omaha suburb of La Vista, Nebraska, Lucky Bucket Brewing Company was launched in 2008. Brewmaster Zac Triemert is a Minnesota native, graduating from Bloomington Jefferson High School in 1992. Triemert earned his masters of brewing and distilling at Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Following his time in Scotland, he worked as brewmaster at Upstream Brewing, a brewpub in Omaha for six years.
Lucky Bucket produces three beers. Lager, a pre-Prohibition style American lager, IPA, described as a "big, well-balanced, West Coast-style IPA," and Certified Evil, a 10%, cabernet barrel-aged, imperial porter. These beers have garnered multiple national awards in the brewery's brief existence. Tasting events are scheduled at locations across the state. Twin Cities area beer fans can sample their wares and meet representatives of the brewery at the following locations:

Millstream Brewing Company
From the Historic Amana Colonies in Amana, Iowa, comes Millstream Brewing Company. Founded in 1985, Millstream is the oldest craft brewery in Iowa. In 2002 the brewery was bought by current owners Tom and Teresa Albert, and Chris Priebe, who is also the brewer. Their beers have won many awards, including a gold medal in the 2010 World Beer Cup for their flagship Shild Brau Amber Lager, a crisp and lightly toasty Vienna lager-style beer. They coined the term "Iowa Pale Ale" for their mild and balanced IPA. It's India Pale Ale for those who want something besides bitterness and hops.
Michael Agnew Millstream beers are already on some store shelves
Millstream's local distributor, Clear River Beverage, is bringing in four of the brewery's beers to start: John's White Ale, IPA, Schild Brau, and Back Road Stout. These beers are already on shelves in a limited number of outlets. I'm told you can find them at Zipp's. More accounts will be coming soon. No tasting events are scheduled at this time.
