How fast can you pedal when fueled by beer?
Usually, the focus of a pedal pub is drinking, but on Sunday, June 19, the focus is speed.

At the NE Business Association's second annual Pedal Pub Races, participants will gather at the Surdyk's parking lot and race from First Ave NE to E. Hennepin and back. Anyone can come watch--there will be food from Chef Shack and music by Jack Klatt & the Cat Swingers.

Teams of 8 to 10 racers ages 18 and up--with at least four females--can reserve pedal pubs for $150 and will race two or more times in their slot, from 12 to 3 p.m. or 3 to 6 p.m. Organizers say participants should "be in shape but need not be Lance Armstrong" and encourage teams to get creative with costumes and themes.
