Ragamala cooks Indian food at Al's Breakfast
What if the tiny Dinkytown diner, Al's Breakfast, stopped flipping flapjacks and, instead, served south Indian food? You can experience just such an alternate reality on Thursday, July 28, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., when the Twin Cities' lauded Ragamala Dance company hosts its annual dinner fundraiser. ![]()
http://www.ragamala.net/ The Ragamala crew can dance--and cook!
Not only is Ragamala artistic director Ranee Ramaswamy a respected performer and teacher of south India's traditional Bharatanatyam dance, but she's also a talented cook. For the meal, she'll be preparing homestyle foods from the region, with several dishes not found at local Twin Cities restaurants.
Other Ragamala dancers will be on hand to chat, and supporters can either snag a stool and eat at Al's or pick up a meal for takeout. Minimum suggested donation is $12 a plate.
