Woody's in Plymouth is a suburban staple, so we went to see what outer-ring deals they bring to the happy hour table.

A fine outdoor experience...

​Venue: As you probably gathered, we dug the patio at Woody's. It has outdoor couches, bar seats and high tops with umbrellas. Trees cover the view to and from I-494 and a large television played Women's World Cup soccer when we visited. Ryan, the bartender, knew everyone in the place on a first-name basis and most folks seemed like regulars. There is also an inside bar, which had a friendly staff (but we headed straight for the al fresco).

Verdict: A $2 beer is nothing to sneeze at, nor is a seven hour stretch on the weekend days. These are impressive numbers as far as happy hours go and the patio simply sweetens the pot. With just enough food selections to keep pace with your drinking, Woody's is a fine destination to check out if you are westward ho. While it's not a mecca for craft beers or haute cooking, it has good, solid specials, a neighborhood feel and a dreamy patio. Be sure to look up the daily deals on the eatery's website too -- it might mean extra savings for you and your friends.
