The Star Tribune recently memorialized former financial analyst turned restaurateur David Webb, who passed away from cancer earlier this month. Webb's lengthy hospitality career began in 1974 when he opened a Golden Valley franchise of Chicago's My Pie Pizza. From there, Webb and his brother, Rick, went on to open the American Cafe, CocoLezzone, and Rupert's nightclub, all in the same 394-side complex, as well as Edina's Original Pancake House and Winfield Potter's in Minneapolis. David Webb's most recent venture was Good Day Cafe, opened in 2007, which continues to be managed by his son, David.
