Guy Fieri responds to this City Pages cover story
Guy Fieri is firing back at this week's City Pages cover story, which chronicled the rise of the Food Network's hit show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and the collapse of Fieri's relationship with its producer, David Page.

In a formal statement released by Team Fieri, the Food Network star denies being homophobic or anti-Semitic. The statement claimed the feature was riddled with "omissions, basic errors, and complete fabrications."

But when we reached out to Food Network executives, Fieri's manager, Fieri's public relations firm, and a number of ex-employees to get his side of the story, they either didn't return phone calls and emails or declined to comment for the record.

The public statement reads as follows:

Guy's reputation speaks for itself. He's a standup guy who does right by people. He would never make the kind of comments attributed to him in this story, and anyone who knows or has even met him knows that. That Mr. Page made these sadly desperate statements says more about him than it does about Guy or anyone on the Food Network team.

If Fieri's side of the story is missing from our account, it is for one reason: He refused to tell it.

For the record, we remain interested in talking with Guy Fieri. He knows how to reach us.

Gee, don't we all KNOW why the NY Times SHILL, Peter Wells, attacked him in that cruel review of his restaurant!!!

God forbid we aren’t all tip-toeing around the very sensitive, almighty elites in new york.

Guy mentions that there was another agenda, and now we know what that is…..to put him in his gentile place.

Here's some more thorough information from the blog Eater. Whether or not Fieri is a douche, the CIty Pages should include this info in its story, as the facts presented seem sort of important.

From Eater: A source with knowledge of the situation also got in touch. Calling the City Pages article riddled with "omissions," "basic errors" and "complete fabrications," they accused the author Gregory Pratt of sloppily fact-checking Page's background and simple details about Fieri. They pretty much destroyed almost everything Page had to say, calling Page's recollections of events "fantasies." Regarding the revenue from the bestselling Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives books, the source claimed Page was never entitled to anything according to his contract with the Food Network: "All book rights to the show remained with Food Network."

As for being a homophobe, they called it an "outlandish" and "ridiculous" claim. "The fact that the only confirmation of this comes from a producer who currently draws a paycheck from Page is telling," they said. "Guy's own sister, who recently passed away, was gay."

The fact that "Fieri" was a spokesman for the "edgy" cuisine of TGI Friday's says everything you need to know about the depth of his involvement in cooking and culinary culture. However, I have heard a rumor that Summer's Eve is interested in him. Also-- is it true that the Simpsons' Poochie was modeled on Guy's ultra-mod persona?

Anyone who changes his name from Ferry to Fieri and then insists on pronouncing it with his pretentious tongue-roll like he's comes from the "old country" is, by definition, a douchebag.

David may be a hot head but he gets things done. I have read other posts where people are saying Page is tough to work with etc. Um...yea, he drives his people to work above their comfort zone...I think those who yell the loudest about this most likley were either fired by Page or are just too emotional to unerstand what hard work means. I write TV shows and have worked with David in the past and yup, he's hardcore...so what? Do you wanna get paid or not? Guy thinks he's a leading man......well, I would rather hire I.C.P. they look alike but at least I will be entertained.

I always kinda' liked Guy...he's pretty intense though! He reminds me of Pete Rose: talented, likeable and  generous but not sophisticated, (a kind way of saying, "not much class"). I do know them both...

Pitching Justice = David Page....you are a tool, give it up. He doesn't get things done...um, you don't....it's clear that through a career, that hot head behavior has come back to haunt..."Page is tough to work with", I'd say he was damn near impossible....and if he had a glimmer of truth in anything he said...topped off with all HE WAS accused of saying....why is he not still in court?! Oh, that's right, because he's an abusive tyrant, who's been kicked to the curb...

David Page is also a huge douchebag. There are no mysteries as to why these assholes didn't get along.

If Guy was a douchebag and Page was a pussy, they would get along. Or if Guy was an enema bag and Page was an asshole, everything would be fine as well.
