Moose & Sadie's has long been a Warehouse District favorite for working lunches. Susan Muskat, formerly of Birchwood Cafe, expertly creates a weekly changing menu of inventive pizzas, salads, and sandwiches, often using local organic produce. Each day the bakery case displays different made-from-scratch treats like sticky caramel rolls, malted chocolate chip cookies, and incredibly flaky fruit pies. They cater just as much to hipper-than-thou design professionals as they do to families of Twins fans on their way to the stadium.

Though the buzzed-about item on the breakfast menu is usually the huevos rancheros, once in a blue moon Moose & Sadie's offers its blue cornmeal pancakes, and they are not to be missed.
Anyone who has made pancakes at home knows that the simple ingredients can either be elevated to melt-in-your-mouth greatness or go horribly wrong and end up a tasteless, flat disk. The blue cornmeal in Moose & Sadie's version does something magical, and it's much more than just a slight color change. This is a full plate-sized flapjack with lacy edges, a crisp golden top that is softened in the middle with a huge pat of butter, and a sort of spongy interior, ideal for soaking up the real maple syrup that comes on the side.
