'Diners, Drive Ins & Dives' rolls through the metro area

We're assuming that at least one thing tasted was "off the chain" & "totally out of bounds"
The pineapple-haired Food Network personality who may or may not be a homophobe anti-Semite big fan of City Pages, returned to our town last week to film three upcoming segments. The show Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives highlights small businesses and restaurants across the country, mainly focusing on places that might not otherwise make headlines. The show has previously featured Minnesota businesses Al's Breakfast, Colossal Cafe, the Nook, and more.

Where did they film?

They were spotted at the 1029 Bar scarfing down lobster rolls from the Smack Shack. Reports have it that some of the Saturday-morning bar regulars were a bit noisy. When the crew asked them to tone it down, the lively revelry instead kicked up a decibel. The bar might be described by some as a dive.

Smalley's Caribbean Barbeque in Stillwater was also featured, along with, more confusingly, Broders'. Smalley's has some character that might be stretched to call a dive (although not really.)  Broders', though, the reasonably priced Italian favorite, doesn't really fit into any of the Ds.

No word yet on when the episodes will air, but we'll keep you posted.

I hope he was able to steer clear of those queers that trouble him so.
