| New products announced for 2012 |
For most of us the new year means either giving up old habits or trying to stay on the straight and narrow and adopt new ones. For the Golden Valley-based food giant General Mills, 2012 means a slew of new products will be introduced to consumers.
The company's quarterly earnings announcement unveiled the new products for the second half of the fiscal year.

| Lightly sweetened caramel-flavored Cheerios are coming soon |
Two new cereal flavors, both from Cheerios, are slated to hit shelves in January: caramel-flavored Dulce de Leche and the Peanut Butter Multi-Grain variety.
Other products include a lactose-free yogurt from Yoplait that will be available in strawberry, peach, cherry, and French vanilla, and Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars, an all-natural, fiber-rich snack bar with 15 percent of the recommended daily intake of protein. Kid-friendly Pillsbury Mini-Waffles should also be showing up in grocery store freezer sections by late January.
