Zagat names 10 Twin Cities restaurants with best service
Zagat posted its picks for local restaurants with the best service last week. No surprise, the back of the house matches the front of the house; each restaurant is well regarded for serious attention to the food coming out of the kitchen. They are, in the order listed by Zagat:
Lucia's was acknowledged for its great service. See who else made the list
La Belle Vie
Manny's Steakhouse
The St. Paul Grill
Alma
Vincent
Lucia's
Meritage
Heartland
Saffron Restaurant & Lounge
Oceannaire Seafood Room
Zagat describes the selection process this way: "Zagat has selected the top-rated restaurants for service in Minneapolis based on our most recent survey. This list includes the five Minneapolis restaurants rated best for service as listed in our Minneapolis guide." A little unclear? Ever since Zagat was acquired by Google this fall, their presence has been exploding on the web, which is where most of their guides exist. That stroke of brilliance that Nina and Tim Zagat had--to give voice to the customer--seems to be less central to the original purpose.
In 1995 and then again in 1996, Zagat published one of its famed surveys on the Twin Cities, "Minneapolis-Saint Paul Restaurants." Carla Waldemar was editor. In that nascent food scene, culinary types blushed to be counted by the Zagat empire and blushed again when the honor was withdrawn. Interestingly, of the 10 restaurants on today's list, only one was in existence 15 years ago: The St. Paul Grill.
