Mankato Brewery brings locally brewed beer to Mankato
The new breweries just keep on coming in this exploding Minnesota beer scene. Last week saw the launch of the Minneapolis-based and Belgian-inspired Boom Island Brewing Company at Pig and Fiddle, the Edina beer pub recently opened by the owners of the Muddy Pig. This week brings a slew of release events for the state's newest suds maker, Mankato Brewery.

Mankato Brewery has been in the works for two-and-a-half years. It is the project of co-owners Tim Tupy and Tony Feuchtenberger, local entrepreneurs who decided to turn their home-brewing hobby into a business. Last year they stole brewer Mike Miziorko away from Summit and put him to work crafting the brewery's intial release, Mankato Original, a beer that Tupy has said is "a style that is really easy to drink. We wanted something coming out of the gate that people that were American light lager drinkers could appreciate for the complexity that it brought."

If you want to try the beers and meet the people behind them, check out these opening-week events.
