Cake Walk benefits Share Our Strength

​The Taste of the Nation Minneapolis is holding a cake walk with James Beard Award-nominated chef Michelle Gayer. Gayer's Salty Tart bakery in the heart of Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis churns out delicious confections, beautiful breads, and stacks of buttery cookies every day. The chef began her career at the famed Charlie Trotter's restaurant before moving to Minneapolis. Now she's donating her creations to help benefit hungry kids in this first-of-its-kind event.

To sweeten the pot, she's also pairing up with another Beard Award honoree.

Alongside Chef Tim McKee, Gayer will host the event, which will include dancing, drinks, and desserts donated by the Cities' top pastry chefs. All proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength, whose goal is to end childhood hunger in the Twin Cities by the year 2015.

The event will be held March 1 from 8 to 11p.m. at the Fine Line Music Cafe. Tickets are $60. For more information on the event, including where to buy tickets, visit the Share Our Strength website here.
