| Chatterbox hosts this month's LFHH |
Judging by the huge farm-to-table trend in new restaurants, chefs championing the use of local proteins and produce whenever possible, and everyone and their mother going in on a CSA box, there is clearly a push from consumers who want know exactly where their food comes from and how sustainably it's being produced. Local Food Happy Hour is an ongoing public series, sponsored by the Land Stewardship Project, that explores this topic from several angles.
The Hot Dish caught up with LFHH steering committee member Anna Cioffi to talk a little bit more about what will be covered at this month's happy hour.
The event starts at 5:30 at the
Chatterbox Pub in St. Paul and will focus on the business of farming, particularly farm business models, marketing, and distribution dynamics. This Local Foods Happy Hour features three panelists who offer various perspectives on the topic, including Lori Brinkman of
Elmbrink Family Farm, a producer representing the direct marketing model; Aaron Reser, a buyer from
Mill City Farmer's Market; and Karla Pankow, a producer from
Bossy Acres Farm, who will present information on the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model.
The presentations begin at 6 and will last roughly an hour, with the Happy Hour ending at 7:30. Educational--and there's drinks!
