IHOP giving away free short stacks for National Pancake Day today

You don't even have to be an early riser to reap the benefits of this breakfast-centered holiday.

Today is National Pancake Day (not to be confused with Shrove Tuesday, which was last week), and to celebrate IHOP in Bloomington will be giving away a free short stack of its signature buttermilk pancakes to each guest who stops by between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.

IHOP is asking for a voluntary donation from each diner, which will benefit the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals' program at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare.

Since the IHOP started this tradition in 2006, it has raised close to $8 million for local charities and served up more than 14 million free pancakes. They're hoping to hit the $10 million mark this year, so consider embracing syrup caddies, weak coffee, and vinyl booths. It's for a good cause.
