Happy hour of the day: Eat Street Social

For a taste of Easy Street, head to Eat Street
There's no better way to put a happy hour to the test than to show up cranky after a no good, very bad day. Belly up to the bar, and dare anyone behind it to try to turn your frown upside down.

At Eat Street Social, they'll start by simply dropping off a few menus, one of which contains the happy hour (or "social hour") specials, available from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 p.m. - 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 12 - 1:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Perhaps the $8 bottle of wine or $5 Tea & T (black tea-infused gin, house-made tonic, lime, and seltzer) will catch your eye, and you'll start to feel your brow unfurrowing. When you get to the $5 basket of tiny shoestring fries (which allow for more salt per square inch of potato) with a side of foamy, decadent Bearnaise sauce, or the list of espetinhos (which translates roughly to shish kebabs, which translates roughly to yummy stuff on sticks), you might be feeling the corners of your mouth start to twitch into something resembling a smile.

And by the time Jesse the bartender does his best impression of a shake-weight infomercial with the cocktail shaker, all in pursuit of crafting you an off-menu, delicious, secret creation, you'll be tempted to slip a few singles under his apron string and dance your way out onto the springtime sidewalk.

Eat Street Social happy hour: 1; Crankypants mood cloud: 0.

Gave this place a try this week for the first time. Completely impressed!  The waitstaff were all more than friendly, the food was AMAZING, the drinks were great and the prices weren't bad either. Highly reccommend it!

ESS hasn't been the same since the original/opening kitchen staff and chef moved on.

Funny thing about the "happy hour" is that the sandwiches (which include a GREAT burger) are the same price during happy hour and all other unhappy hours.

And the "Of The Older Fashioned" is one of the best drinks I've ever had.
