Last week CNN's travel-focused site CNNGo confirmed what City Pages readers and critics have known for years when it named Little Szechuan in St. Paul among the 50 best Chinese restaurants in America.

The fiery Chinese restaurant is the only Minnesota establishment to make the list, but this is far from its first brush with media attention. Little Szechuan's St. Paul location (now with a sister store in St. Louis Park) has won many awards, including City Pages Best Chinese restaurant in 2007 and 2009, for its numbingly spicy dishes like belt fish, dan dan noodles, beef in Szechuan broth, and the less hot but still delicious milky crispy shrimp, cold bean jelly, and famous stir fried pea tips.
California's Chinese restaurants seemed to dominate the list with eleven entries, but Chicago's Lao Sze Chuan, Canton, Michigan's Best China, and Mason, Ohio's Sichuan Bistro all turned up to represent the Midwest on this list.
