Masu Sushi and Robata makes list of best new American sushi restaurants

Masu Sushi adds another feather to its cap.

Just a month after being awarded Best Sushi in City Pages' Best of the Twin Cities issue, Tim McKee and Katsuyuki Yamamoto's Masu Sushi and Robata in northeast Minneapolis got a much grander shout-out when it made the list of Bon Appetit's 10 Best New Sushi Restaurants in America.

Bon Appetit mentioned the sustainable focus that sets this sushi restaurant apart and particularly recommends the Firecracker roll with shrimp tempura, snow crab, cucumber, avocado, and spicy tuna; the scallop sashimi; and any bowl of Masu's ramen.

So the sushi secret is out, and rest of the country knows what we have already been privy to for a couple of years, but the timing couldn't be better for the restaurant. Its second location at the giant tourist trap that is the Mall of America is set to open any day now.

Try sukura - far better than this nonsense.To be honest anyone who charges an arm and leg for grilled corn, be it on a japanese grill or not, is nuts. the sushi at Masu is boring and average to say the least.

We all know it's impossible to get good sushi in middle America. By the time stagecoaches and/or trains make the trip from the coasts, the fish will be rotten. If only we could create magic machines capable of traveling quickly across the country...
