Hazel's Northeast adds patio seating and bacon doughnuts

Earlier this year we voted Hazel's Northeast in Audobon Park one of our top 10 favorite breakfasts, and now they're giving us one more reason to love them.

After gauging the (very positive) response from the neighborhood and getting approval from the city, Hazel's is adding a 14-seat sidewalk patio so diners can enjoy their dessert-like drunken banana French toast and crazy good meat waffle (served at brunch) in the great outdoors.

Butterscotch bacon doughnuts are as good as they sound

Another welcome addition to Hazel's is its ever-changing selection of doughnuts. Though Sarah Jane's Bakery, considered by many to have the very best old-fashioned doughnuts in the Twin Cities, is right next door, Hazel's introduced its sweet and salty butterscotch bacon doughnuts right around New Year's and has decided to keep them in regular rotation, due to popular demand. They also make an intriguing-sounding chocolate chipotle and spiced-apple glazed doughnuts.

Hazel's co-owners (and brothers) Adam and Andrew Sieve made the announcement of the patio seating approval earlier in June, but the sidewalk cafe is officially open for business on July 2nd.
