Yesterday afternoon on the Lori & Julia show on My Talk 107.1, local food critic Kathie Jenkins announced that after almost 17 years she will be accepting a buyout from the Pioneer Press.
Pioneer Press says goodbye to longtime food editor
Jenkins said the Pioneer Press will continue to cover local food, but the future is unclear. The Eat section depended on Jenkins as its sole producer of local content.
Jenkins did not immediately respond for comment on this story. It remains to be seen how this news will affect St. Paul restaurant reporting. It's certain that small East Side restaurants have lost an advocate. Today is Jenkins' last day with the paper.
