Primebar brings sliders, brews and happy back to former Il Gatto space in Uptown
The Restaurants America mini-chain moving into the ill-fated Il Gatto space announced today that it has scheduled an opening date. Primebar has locations in Chicago, Dallas, and Wesley Chapel, Florida. They describe their concept as an upscale gastropub. The interior will feature recycled wood, salvaged lighting, over-sized booths, and plenty of plasma televisions.

The food...

Burgers: Asian, turkey, and the usual beef will be available alongside a long list of small plates like the buffalo calamari and sliders. The entrees sound hearty, including New York strip, lamb shank, and inside-out ravioli.

The bar will feature 60 beers on tap, wines by the glass, and cocktails. Happy hour will be Monday through Friday 3 to 5 p.m.

Expect the outpost to open its doors Thursday, June 28. [UPDATE: Primebar says the opening has been delayed. A new date has not been announced.]

Good luck, Primebar, you're going to need it. There is absolutely nothing on their menu at the Chicago location that looks special. For a self-proclaimed "upscale gastropub", they better come with something better than linguini al fresco, fish & chips, and a szechwan stir-fry. The Eat Street Social is only a mile or two away and it blows Primebar's menu out of the water.  Menu:  http://www.restaurants-america.com/restaurants/3-primebar/locations/6-chicago (click the Food & Drink URL under Menus)
