Walker Art Center presents Kitchen Lab: a series of free food events
The Walker Art Center is hosting a series of free food-centered events June 18-28 as part of its Open Field series.
From creating your own "amuse bouche" to an outdoor picnic operetta with a five-course tasting menu, these free, family-friendly events will run throughout the rest of June.
June 21, 6-9 p.m.
This Thursday enjoy a fun night of food-tasting at the Walker Art Center centered around one-bite meals.
This free event invites attendees to bring their favorite locally produced beverages, produce, meat, or cheese to share and incorporate by making their own amuse bouche (or "mouth amuser"), experimenting with blending flavors and taste profiles. When you find the perfect mix, you can swap your amuse bouche with others and add to a collection being created by artists Carl and Betsy DiSalvo.
If tiny bites don't sound like enough fuel for your artistic endeavors, grab dinner at the D'Amico Garden Grill before or after, where you'll find summer classics including sausages, hot dogs, and burgers, plus a variety of local beers, wines, soda, and lemonade. The Garden Grill is in the Walker's big outdoor yard where all Open Field events take place, and as an added bonus it stays open until 10 p.m. on Thursdays.
Acoustic Campfire: Picnic Operetta by Mixed Precipitation
June 28, 8-9 p.m.

Picnic Operetta will present a twilight event, featuring the cast of Mixed Precipitation's 2012 community garden opera. As the show plays out, a five-course tasting menu of locally grown, performance-inspired delicacies will be served.
The Picnic Operetta performs in community gardens and farms throughout the metro area in August and September.
