Masu Sushi makes list of best new American sushi restaurants

Dining options at the mega mall are about to get a little hipper. The Best Japanese restaurant of last year is getting a suburban sibling. The menu will be nearly identical to its flagship Nordeast location. Masu Sushi and Robata is the creation of Sushi Avenue and James Beard Award-winning chef Tim McKee, wrapped inside a pop culture confection of Shea Inc. interior design. Expect to see pachinko machines and geisha murals inside the new space.

"The Mall draws people from all over the world, and we're looking forward to being able to change things up and see how they respond to different dishes," Sushi Avenue executive chef Stephan Hesse says.
Check the menu for such new items as a pork shoulder robata, nibuta, char-sui (Chinese-style BBQ), Kitsune udon (noodles in dashi broth with fried tofu and a soft poached egg) and a tokubetsu na men, a daily-changing noodle bowl special.
Masu plans to open this Sunday, July 22, at 344 S Avenue.
