The Coffee Shop Northeast on Johnson Street and 29th Street, which some patrons might better remember in its former life as Audubon Coffee, is expanding its interior space and the scope of its entertainment offerings. The announcement comes on the heels of the shop celebrating its second successful year at this location.
The quaint neighborhood shop is well-loved and often frequented, which is great for business but becomes a problem as soon as a crowd gathers and decides to stay awhile. In response to that issue, Rich Horton and the Coffee Shop Northeast's other co-owners decided to add space for about 30 more seats, bringing the total capacity to 57.
Here are more details on the expansion, which includes a larger menu coming soon:
The expansion is nearing completion, and Horton says they plan to officially open the new space at the end of this month. The room will also be available to reserve for private events.
The added space will allow the coffee shop to offer more on its menu, and though the owners have yet to finalize what those items will be, Horton says more made-to-order sandwiches (they have a pretty amazing one with peanut butter, bacon, and potato chips on toast) and waffles at breakfast are likely coming soon.
