Aura in Uptown shuts its doors
This weekend marked the end of an era for a long time resident of Calhoun Square. Late last week, Aura Restaurant & Bar announced that it would be closing its doors for good on Saturday, September 8. Given the abrupt nature of its closing, the restaurant decided to go out with a bang, hosting a customer appreciation party on its last day in business.

According to staff member who wished to remain unnamed, Aura, which, as some may remember, began its life as 101 Blue, had to give up its tenancy due to rising rent costs. But all may not be lost for the bar.
Aura closed out its 12-year run surrounded by a full house of loyal regulars. Offering $3 drinks and free food, staff and customers alike shared both memories and laughs.

Although the news of the closing hit some of the staff rather hard, the bittersweet tone of the evening kept looking toward the possibilities of the future. The owners are scouting new locations in the same area in an effort to resurrect a new version of the bar that will cater to the same loyal client base while offering a somewhat different concept.
