Kings Wine Bar serving lunch, former Jack's Cafe space has new resident

Due to popular demand, Kings Wine Bar, on 46th Street and Grand Avenue South, has taken its late-night menu into daytime and is now serving lunch weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The lunch menu and late-night menu are the same, with the addition of a few daily changing soups. The first week of service included a smoked potato soup and a tomato-goat cheese soup with a grilled cheese "crouton." Other items you can expect to see daily are the famous homemade tots with shallot creme fraiche (sometimes they make a sweet potato version with homemade ketchup), oyster mushroom flatbread, grown-up baked mac and cheese with optional add-ons, an open-faced fried chicken sandwich served on cornbread and smothered in rich chicken gravy, and a beet salad with strawberries and Fresno chiles.

Putting some rumors to rest about another restaurant moving into the former Jack's Cafe space in East Harriet, DevJam, a software development company, has officially taken up residence there, reports the Southwest Journal. The kitchen is still being rented out by the owners of Chef Shack to use as a prep space for their food truck, but for the time being it will be all computers and no compotes at this address.

DevJam owner David Hussman says they plan to eventually open up the space for community use as well.
