A new Irish pub is on its merry way

In the span of five years the space at 913 W. Lake St. has seen almost as many restaurant tenants come and go, including Favor Cafe, Restaurant Miami, and most recently Viva Brazil. Now out to break the possible curse of this locale, a group of investors has announced plans to open an "upscale Irish pub" sometime late this winter.

Here's more on the upcoming project:

One of the partners on this soon-to-be finalized development is Scott Schuler, a co-owner of Savoy Pizza on Hennepin. Schuler told the Southwest Journal that in addition to beer and whiskey, the pub will also serve traditional Irish comfort food like shepherd's pie but will aim to accommodate vegans and vegetarians with some creative meat- and dairy-free options too.

The proposed remodel of the space aims to transform the storefront and make it more attractive and visible, something that seemed to be an issue for the former residents. They will also be improving the kitchen and adding high-end finishes to the dining room.

If their liquor license type is approved, the bar will also be allowed to host live music and other entertainment.

Morrissey's hopes to open its doors to the public by the end of February.
